Modric: “The coach changed the game with the changes”

MADRID, 12 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

Real Madrid player Luka Modric was “very satisfied” after reaching the semifinals of the Champions League and highlighted the role of Carlo Ancelotti, whom he wanted to highlight because “he changed the game with the changes”.

“It’s an incredible night, again a great game at the Bernabéu, it’s a defeat that tastes very sweet. We suffered but we didn’t give up until the end. Despite trailing 0-3, we didn’t play a bad game. They put in everything they they had and we kept fighting. The coach made good changes that helped us a lot and changed the game. We are very happy to be in the semifinals,” Modric told Movistar.

“We are used to suffering, it happened to us many times like against Bayern, Juve, Ajax, Schalke… today it was a night of suffering again but the important thing is that we have passed. It is difficult to describe the emotions after these 120 minutes. We had several injuries, but all the players have shown a lot of character and this is a victory for the team”, commented the Croatian international.

In addition, Modric said that it is “a tremendous pride to hear the public shouting” his name. “I have to thank the love received from the first day. I try to repay this love by helping the team, playing well and winning games”, he said.

Finally, Modric did not want to compromise on his future. “We are going to go year by year, to see if I can continue with this level. Rival in the semifinals? It is a difficult question because if you want to win the ‘Champions’ you have to beat everyone. City and Atlético are strong but we are in ‘ semis’ and that’s the important thing. We can watch the game in peace”, he concluded.
