Gran Canaria denounces Sadiel Rojas for “violent” and UCAM asks that the “harassment” against his player cease

MADRID, 12 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

Gran Canaria has denounced this Tuesday the UCAM Murcia player Sadiel Rojas before the Single Competition Judge of the ACB League due to his “violent and unsportsmanlike behavior” after the action with AJ Slaughter, an island player, in the match of day 28 of the regular phase of the Endesa League played last Sunday.

“CB Gran Canaria has filed a complaint with the Single Competition Judge of the ACB League against the player Sadiel Rojas for his violent and unsportsmanlike behavior, urging said body to instruct the corresponding sanctioning file against the indicated player in the terms provided in the Disciplinary Regulations of the FEB”, indicated the Canarian club in a statement.

The UCAM Murcia, for its part, also issued a public note stating that it has “collected a series of publications on social networks, whose authors are main actors of the ACB, which point out, disrespect and attack the image of the UCAM player Murcia CB directly or indirectly”.

“We understand that from the official accounts of the clubs and relevant institutional, managerial and sports positions, certain trials should not be allowed that cause serious media agitation, that lead to an authentic verbal lynching in the different fields that we have to visit, causing situations that the Law against violence, racism, xenophobia and tolerance in sport tries to protect, and that the clubs should take special care of”, he highlights.

In addition, the Murcian club recalls that it is a “situation that especially threatens the integrity” of Sadiel Rojas “preventing him from exercising his profession normally.” “That is why we urge, from the loyalty that we profess to this competition, that the ACB in charge of these matters be the one to study their importance and procedure to follow.”

“In the document presented we point out publications corresponding to the accounts of the CB Gran Canaria player, AJ Slaughter, the Sports Director of CB Gran Canaria, Willy Villar and the official account of CB Gran Canaria. In addition, after the permanent harassment suffered and given the seriousness of the situation in the last few hours derived from these publications, the club will denounce this persecution of our player also in ACB, reserving the right to go to ordinary justice”, adds UCAM.

“Complaint aside, we want to add that after the meeting, Sadiel Rojas was interested in the condition of the CB Gran Canaria player, AJ Slaughter, (as can be seen in the photograph of the statement), and he acknowledged that he was fine and that understood that his action had been totally fortuitous,” the statement concluded.
