Laporta: “We are more than a club and we will help Ukrainian refugees”

The president of FC Barcelona, ​​Joan Laporta, has appealed to Barcelona fans to help the Ukrainian refugees and show that they are “more than a club”, and has announced that the Barça entity will carry out a food collection at the Camp Nou for infants and young children of refugee families in Catalonia.

“Refugees leave their lives to rejoin another one that they do not know what will bring. It is a terrible suffering. These are moments that we show the world that we are more than a club and more than a family,” said Laporta at the campaign announcement ceremony. food collection, accompanied by Xavi Hernández and players from the women’s first team, such as Mariona Caldentey and Lieke Martens.

The tents will be open at different points within the Camp Nou facilities, on Monday, March 28 (from 12 to 6 p.m.), Tuesday, March 29 (from 2 to 6 p.m.), Wednesday, March 30 (from 2 to 7 p.m. ), in this case coinciding with the women’s ‘Champions’ match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and finally on Sunday, April 3, until 9:30 p.m., coinciding with the LaLiga Santander match against Sevilla.

For this reason, the president of Barça has asked the fans to take the opportunity to “bring basic necessities” and, thus, help babies and the little ones. “They need it,” he added.

A team of volunteers from the humanitarian movement and club workers will be in charge of managing the collection of these products from the tents, which the Red Cross will later transfer to its Center located in Sant Martí de Tous, from where it will deliver them to the Ukrainian refugee families and other families served by the entity and that present high vulnerability and social risk.

The products that the Red Cross has recommended as most necessary are the following: powdered infant milk formula, powdered infant cereals, baby purees (fruit, vegetables, chicken, fish and others), infant snacks and biscuits and Fruit juice.
