Mallorca dismisses Luis García Plaza in the absence of nine days

MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Mallorca Luis García Plaza has been dismissed this Tuesday after a negative streak of results -five consecutive defeats- that have put the vermilion team in relegation places when there are only nine days left for the end of LaLiga Santander 2021-22 .

“Luis García Plaza is no longer coach of RCD Mallorca. The club wishes him the best of luck and thanks him for all the work he has done to date. Luis García Plaza was the coach for promotion to the First Division last season, achieving 82 points, a record figure in the club’s history,” reported Mallorca.

The Balearic team, which has only won one of the last seven games, occupies the eighteenth position in the table with 6 wins, 8 draws and 15 losses, a background that leaves it with 26 points, one point behind Cádiz, which is out of relegation positions.

In this way, and after the defeat against Espanyol, Luis García Plaza says goodbye, who arrived at Mallorca two summers ago in the Second Division. The Madrid coach, after several experiences outside of Spain, returned successfully and with a historic promotion for the islanders.

However, and despite the good start to the season, Luis García Plaza – who was also promoted to First Division with Levante – has not been able to avoid dismissal at the end of March. Mallorca has not yet announced a substitute, not even a provisional coach.
