Goals from Poland’s Arkadiusz Milik and Congolese Cedric Bakambu gave Marseille victory over Nice (2-1) at the Velodrome stadium, in a direct duel between two candidates for second place in Ligue 1.
The two contenders for the runner-up, to which Stade Rennes has also joined, faced a key face-to-face in the race in which the Argentine team Jorge Sampaoli emerged the winner.

Balanced at the start, the equality was undone in added time of the first half when a foul by Jean Clair Todibo was sanctioned with a penalty that Milik converted.
Nice looked for a reaction, but Sampaoli’s team did not break down, taking advantage of his chance in the final stretch when Bakambu took advantage of a cross from Gerson to beat Argentine Walter Benítez again.
Christophe Galtier’s Nice pulled with pride, who shortened distances just after, in the addition, through Mario Lemina.
The victory places Marseille second, twelve points behind the leaders, Paris Saint Germain, and one ahead of Stade Rennes, now third. Nice is in fourth place.
