“I would love it. I don’t discover anything by saying that for me it is a special place, not only because I was a coach, but also because of my past as a player. I return to Vigo a lot, I have many friends here”, he assured after participating in an act of the Galician Football Federation in support of the Ukrainian people for the invasion by Russia.

In addition, he showed his joy at seeing his “friend” Eduardo Coudet triumphing in Balaídos, and trusts that the team will “demonstrate” on the field what his compatriot intends to build.

“She is a coach who has always sought the goal from the front, who plays offensive football, and the people of Vigo like that,” said the former sky-blue coach.

Berizzo avoided comparing the current Celta with his because “I haven’t seen it enough to be able to comment,” but he did recall that one of the keys to his team’s success was “the degree of development” of a block that had “great individuals” such as, he cited, Iago Aspas, Daniel Wass, Tucu Hernández.

In this sense, he recalled what happened in the second leg of the Europa League semifinal against Manchester United, when his team enjoyed a very clear chance in the final stretch of the clash to come back from the tie.

“That move we all still remember in our dreams, but it is also true that that moment has to boost others. From the failure of the disappointment one also begins to build his new successes. Hopefully we will play that semifinal again, win it and lift a title, “he said. EFE
