Ünal: “I’ll be happier when we reach our goal”

Enes Ünal was the last Getafe player to score a centennial goal. He did it against Levante by scoring the club’s 700th in the First Division and this week he spoke to the club’s media: “I am proud to put my signature in the history of this great club. I hope I put more signatures before the end of the season. I want to score more goals, but I can’t promise anything other than hard work and going to the death until the end”. . It is a daily work and permanent improvement”.

His explosion this season has been surprising, although the striker always trusted himself: “Now I’m scoring goals, but my way of living and watching football hasn’t changed at all. I have more support from my team and my coaches. That’s why everything is going great. This dressing room is a family and it’s a joy to come here every day to train with these people”. About Quique he only has words of praise: “I knew he was a great coach and from the first day you could see that he was going to do something good”.

Asked if the excessive praise he receives can weaken him, Ünal is very honest: “When I started playing in Turkey I was 16 years old, I was a young star and I had a lot of attention on me. I’m used to being talked about. It doesn’t affect me that they speak well or that they criticize me like animals. The important thing is what those who know me tell me”. Finally, the striker celebrates how well the team was reinforced in the winter market: “It’s always good that the coach has alternatives. Every training session we compete with our teammates. That’s very good”. For the next game on Friday at San Mamés, that competition will be maximum, since in principle Quique will have all his players.
