Joventut takes fourth place against Valencia

MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Joventut became strong at home this Saturday to beat Valencia Basket (76-68) on matchday 24 of the Endesa League, a direct clash for fourth place in the table, a tight fight in the playoffs zone in which Lenovo Tenerife also won.

The ‘Penya’ knocked out the ‘taronja’ team in the third quarter, with a 21-9 score that made the match very verdinegro. Pau Ribas (15 points) led Carles Duran’s men, also with Vives at a high level. Brodziansky, Parra and Tomic won the battle on the inside.

The Badalona team thus has 14 victories, fourth in the table, for the 13 of a Valencia Basket that did not know how to continue its great victory over Barça. With 13 and fifth, Tenerife was also placed, which surpassed (62-77) from the defensive seriousness a Casademont Zaragoza that sees Jaume Ponsarnau’s project falter on the bench.

Shermadini made a difference once again, with 22 points, 10 rebounds and a PIR of 36, and his best partner, Huertas, was not far behind with 20 points. After a weak first quarter for both, the aurinegro team took control and the handful team conceded the third loss in a row, pending the relegation zone.

In addition, Gran Canaria beat Unicaja (76-59) to add the eleventh victory and get into the fight for the ‘Top 8’. The people of Malaga, who are far from that goal, gave in in a tough third quarter (28-15). The Ukrainian center Pustovyi (14 points and a PIR of 21) was the best in another emotional performance due to the situation of his country under the military invasion of Russia.

The Río Breogán’s playoff dream suffered a setback with the victory in Lugo of a Surne Bilbao Basket (86-94) that continues to be full to add the same 11 wins as the Galicians. Inglis (22 points and a PIR of 29) and Goudelock (24 and 27) formed a lethal duo for the Bilbao team.
