MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish skier Pol Makuri has finished his participation in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics with a 22nd position in the middle-distance cross-country skiing event, in which 12.5 kilometers are covered in freestyle, with a time of 52:08.

Zhangjiakou Biathlon Center hosted the toughest cross-country ski race due to changing snow and sweltering heat. “Pol’s courage and commitment in this race has been commendable, he has had a career of 10”, explained his coach and skiman, Nil Martínez.

The Chinese Wang Chenyang, who crossed the finish line in 33:07, won the gold medal, while the silver went to the Frenchman Benjamin Daviet, with a time of 33:09, and the bronze, the Chinese Jiayun Cai, with a time of 33:18.

“It was a tough race in which I suffered a lot, both because of the morphology of the circuit, as well as because of the heat and the snow conditions. But I have shown that with desire, enthusiasm and effort we can be on the starting line and compete in classic style,” Makuri said.

The Closing Ceremony of the Games will take place on Sunday, in which Pol Makuri will parade as the flag bearer at the National Stadium in Beijing, ‘El Nido de Pajaro’, starting at 1:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time.
