Granada CF announced this Saturday after 12 midnight the dismissal of its coach, Robert Moreno, and added that it is giving the reins of the team to Rubén Torrecilla, the subsidiary’s coach, on an interim basis.
“The club has decided this Saturday to dissociate itself from Robert Moreno, coach of the first team. From Granada CF we want to thank Robert Moreno for his work and dedication during this period and we wish him all the luck in the future”, says the Nasrid club.
The Andalusian team lost (3-1) this Saturday against Valencia, on matchday 27 of LaLiga Santander, and chained its ninth game without winning in the League. The club made the decision to dispense with a Moreno who was in charge of collecting the successful baton from Diego Martínez and who had already had part of the fans against him.
The season of the former national coach and coach of AS Monaco at Granada ends with the team three points above relegation. “Our motto is ‘Eternal fight’ because the values of Granada CF always demand the best from all of us who are part of this club,” the club wrote in another statement shortly after.
“A reaction based on our identity is necessary. For this reason, Rubén Torrecilla, current coach of Recreativo Granada, has temporarily assumed the technical direction of the first team. It is a time of unity, enthusiasm and work. When the fans, the players and the of the club come together, that’s when we live up to our motto and our history”, he concluded.
