Valladolid pushes for direct promotion after beating Tenerife

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Valladolid achieved a victory of great value after beating Tenerife this Saturday (1-4) at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, a match from matchday 30 of the SmartBank League, which allows the Pucelanos to equal Almería in second position and get fully into the fight for a position of direct promotion to the First Division.

The blanquivioletas were very comfortable from the start and it took them 20 minutes to take the lead. A free kick thrown by Monchu and hit with a heel by Sergio León ended in a rebound that Yamiq only had to push free of a mark. The goal was annulled for possible offside but the VAR confirmed the correct position of the Valladolid player.

At the edge of the hour came the second of the afternoon after a great play by Sergio León that culminated Gonzalo Plata. Tenerife was ‘KO’ and conceded the third in a shot by Javi Sánchez to the center of Raúl Carnero, a few minutes later. Andrés Martín closed the gap for the Canarians but Luis Pérez returned the ‘golaverage’ to Valladolid with an impeccable header.

The authoritarian victory places the Pacheta team with 58 points, tied with Almería in second position and one point behind Eibar. The gunsmiths visit Cartagena this Sunday (6:15 p.m.) in a duel that will mark the day at the top of the table.

In addition, Burgos rose to eighth position after beating Fuenlabrada (1-2) at the Fernando Torres stadium thanks to goals from Grego Sierra and Guillermo, the latter from a penalty. The locals, who will remain in relegation places, equalized through Mohamed Bouldini, but could not repeat it after the second goal from the visitors. Burgos remains two points from the ‘playoff’.

For their part, Huesca and Las Palmas tied (0-0) at El Alcoraz in a duel that left both teams in the middle of the table, without clarifying their possible aspirations for higher levels. The Canarians, who dominated -especially in the first half-, had the best chance of the match in Rafa Mújica’s shoes.
