The surprising statements of Abramovich’s spokesman

The spokesman for Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea but who handed over the management of the club to its Foundation on Saturday, assured that the Russian tycoon tries to contribute to peace in Ukraine after the invasion of Russia.

Said spokesman stated: “I can confirm that Roman Abramovich has been contacted by Ukraine seeking support for a peaceful resolution and he is trying to help.”

The spokesman continued: “We would ask if they understand why we have not commented on the situation or their involvement.”

Chelsea called the situation in Ukraine “horrific” without citing Russia. Abramovich’s involvement came after the request made by the Ukrainian producer of cinco Alexander Rodnyansky, who said that “I am in contact with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski and, whether Abramovich succeeds or not, we are grateful to him.” The Jewish community also addressed the owner of the Stamford Bridge club.
