Sorribes falls in the quarterfinals and will not defend his title in Guadalajara

MADRID, 26 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Sara Sorribes has been eliminated in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Guadalajara (Mexico), in the WTA 250 category and played on a hard court, after losing her match against the Czech Marie Bouzkova (6-4, 6-1), so he will not be able to defend the title won last year.

The Castellón native, who in 2021 raised the first WTA trophy of her career in the Mexican event against the Canadian Eugénie Bouchard, succumbed this Friday to the Central European, who was able to respond to the good start of the Spanish.

Sorribes, current number 32 in the world, had managed to get a good lead (3-0) at the start of the duel, but Bouzkova neutralized the break of the Spanish in the fifth game and scored another in the ninth to win the set.

The Czech also emerged victorious from the exchange of ‘breaks’ at the beginning of the second set (3-1), in which she managed to prevail by winning the last five games to end Sorribes’ title defence.
