An action by Betis Víctor Ruiz against Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta makes the Balearic club fear a possible major knee injury to the Basque midfielder. In the 45th minute, the vermilion player was injured in one knee and his gestures denoted a major injury that forced him to be removed from the field of play to be replaced by his teammate Antonio Sánchez.
In the vermilion environment it is considered that the yellow card that the Betis player saw was a minor punishment and that, perhaps, the play should have been punished with an expulsion that, probably, would have conditioned the rest of the match.
But aside from these considerations, the Majorcan coach, Luis García Plaza was very affected by his player’s injury: “I’m very sad about ‘Gala’ because I think it looks bad, I hope and wish I’m wrong, and I’d give anything for it not to be like that because if it’s serious we’ll lose him for the rest of the season and it’s a great shame, it’s even the worst, in case of a tie, he would have changed it because he had not been injured, We’re not going to say what it is but it looks bad for the knee, and it’s the worst of the game by far”.
In the event of a serious knee injury, Luis García is already thinking about the immediate future: “Antonio Sánchez is doing well in that position, we can get Baba back shortly, he’s not here for this week, but I hope he will be for the next one, and if we lose Galarreta for a long time, we will have to count on Antonio himself, with Baba, and Salva Sevilla and Battaglia who will have to take a step forward and finish the season with them”. The definitive diagnosis on Galarreta’s injury is expected for the next few hours.
