Porro and Sarabia’s Sporting repeats as champion

Exciting match in Leiria that consecrated winter champion to Sporting Club From Portugal. The lions were losing the final of the League Cup against Benfica, but they turned the score around (2-1) and defended the title they won last season.

The Verdiblanco team started better, but it was the Red who scored first, in the only shot they made in the first half: assisted by Grimaldo, Everton finished off with his left foot to the bottom of Adán’s goal (m. 23). Rúben Amorim’s team tried to react, but Vlachodimos saved a dangerous header from Gonçalo Inácio (m. 26), a center-shot from former Sevilla player Pablo Sarabia (m. 37) and a header from Paulinho (45+2′).

The tie came at the beginning of the second half: in a corner shot by Sarabia, Gonçalo Inácio overtook Morato from above and equalized with a header (m. 49). Driven by the goal, the lions looked for the second with a cross from Pedro Porro that Paulinho finished off the crossbar (m. 73). The turnaround came in a long pass down the right wing that Sarabia picked up: he received and shot with his left foot to the bottom of the goal (m. 78).

Sporting thus won the trophy for the second consecutive year, the fourth in its history.
