Mas Madrid responds to Almeida about Djokovic: “It is never a claim who puts the health of others at risk”

MADRID, 18 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokeswoman for Más Madrid in the Assembly, Mónica García, responded this Tuesday to the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, that “it is never a claim who puts the health of others at risk”, referring to the tennis player Novak Djokovic, his expulsion from Australia for not being vaccinated and the possibility that he would play the Madrid Open.

“What image is it giving when it comes to saying that it is a commercial claim? What do we tell our children, that if you have money and you are number 1 you can go against science and social evidence?” García questioned in an interview on ‘Telemadrid’, collected by Europa Press.

This is how she expressed herself when asked about the councilor’s statements that the Serbian player would be “a great claim” for the tournament during a visit to a training center in Arganzuela. Likewise, he specified that the national spokesman for the PP is also a “firm defender of the vaccination process” and that he does not see the tennis player’s behavior as exemplary, although he stressed that it will be the National Government that “at the time says if it complies with the entry criteria.

García has pointed out that although in Spain there are no “bans on deniers or unvaccinated people”, he considers that there are also certain “tacit rules” on what it means to “lie and go against scientific evidence” during a pandemic in which has appealed to the “maximum responsibility” from the political authorities.

“It strikes me that Almeida said a few days ago that Almudena Grandes did not deserve to be the capital’s Favorite Daughter, but she enthusiastically embraces people like Djokovic, contrary to science and common sense,” he reproached.

Finally, he stressed that Spain has been “praised” for its responsibility and vaccination and has made it ugly that doors are opened to a man “who represents the opposite” and is considered a “commercial claim”.
