Kyrgios tests positive for COVID-19 and could miss Australian Open

LONDON, 10 Jan. (PA Media / dpa / EP) –

Tennis player Nick Kyrgios could miss the Australian Open after testing positive for COVID-19 this Monday, a week before the tournament begins, as confirmed by the Australian on his social networks.

“I just want to be transparent with everyone, the reason I had to withdraw from Sydney is because I tested positive for COVID,” wrote the athlete on Instagram, who had to leave the Sydney tournament due to the disease.

Kyrgios said he has no symptoms, although he could not confirm if he will finally be at the Australian Open, which begins on January 17, so he only has a week to recover from the disease and receive the go-ahead for his participation. “I wish you all the best and that you stay safe where you can. If all goes well, I will see you at the Australian Open,” he said.
