Burkina Faso denounces irregularities in the tests prior to the Africa Cup

The Burkina Faso team has denounced irregularities in the tests prior to the 2022 Africa Cup, which begins this Sunday in Cameroon, after the “four or five” players who have tested positive for COVID-19, in addition to the coach Kamou Malo in controversial tests according to the Burkinabe squad.

They claim that an unknown medical team came to their hotel to test the team and the coaching staff, but they refused to do so after the African Football Confederation (CAF) confirmed that the people who had shown up at the hotel did not They were submitted by the tournament organizers.

When the CAF delegation came forward, four positive tests were obtained and one was inconclusive, and Burkina Faso now requires new samples to be taken. Captain Bertrand Traoré said that it is “a scandal” that this happens one day after the debut against Cameroon, precisely the host of the tournament.

“We cannot deprive ourselves of players 24 hours before the game. The authorities must review the organization. We cannot accept this decision. We can redo the tests of our positive players,” the Aston Villa footballer added to the media.
