Griezmann defends Umtiti: “An irreproachable professional”

Samuel umtiti, Barça center-back, is usually the victim of some criticism for his poor performance in recent seasons and the last to criticize the French international was the journalist Didier Roustan, which recovered an article from 2016 comparing Umtiti with the legendary Franz Beckenbauer.

“Obviously it dates from 2016 and Umtiti was certainly promising … but from there to consider him as a future Beckenbauer, it is almost ridiculous … Abidal did not realize the level of the Kaiser,” he wrote Roustan on Twitter, attaching the article in which they placed Umtiti almost at the height of the mythical German defense.

After viewing the publication of Roustan, the former Barça player Antoine Griezmann, good friend of Umtiti, wanted to meet the criticism of the journalist and stressed that without ‘Big Sam’ he would not have won the 2018 World Cup, highlighting that the central Barça is an example of a professional.

“Didier, without Sam there is no second star. Samu has been in great shape for 1 year, but after that there is the coach’s decision! An irreproachable professional! An example for all young French centrals!” Griezmann, throwing a cloak on Umtiti.

In the midst of this new criticism of his figure, Umtiti still waiting to define his future in the Barça. The Frenchman is the least used center-back of the first squad and could come out in this winter market to free up a salary mass.
