The Barça studies to lower the lawn in the new Camp Nou

Once the possibility of borrowing 1,500 million euros for Espai Barça has been approved in a referendum, the Club continues to study every detail of some works that will begin next May. To gain greater visibility in the 36,000 seats in the first tier, without having to move any of the 12,500 subscribers who would have been affected by the first version proposed by Nikken Sekkei, Barça is working on lowering, somewhat, the level of the pitch. What is it about? That, together with a slightly greater incline of the first tier, all the fans in that area see the game better. Of course, you have to find the balance because, by lowering the green by those centimeters, the seats in the second tier lose practically nothing in the excellent current vision of the game. Likewise, for those in the new third tier, the field is not further away yet. With this triple challenge, the people of the Ramon Martinez, the architect who leads Espai Barça as director of the Club’s Heritage, works to achieve what should be possible. In no case will the grass drop as much as it did with the second extension carried out under the mandate of Josep Lluís Núñez in 1994 when UEFA no longer allowed any standing locations.
