Juncà expels Osasuna and invites Montilivi to another round

To stay alive in the Copa del Rey, first you have to love and then try to show enthusiasm, ambition and football. And Girona was superior in everything to Osasuna. Michel’s team continues to be intractable, they have only lost one of their last ten games, and David Juncà’s goal was enough to leave a reddish block on the canvas that lengthens his bad moment. For the second season in a row, Girona will be in the round of 16 of the Cup.

This Girona flies and It does not matter if Michel rotates and bets on players, in theory, substitutes and the subsidiary like Artero or Biel Farrés (he debuted with the first team) because they all respond to him. The coach has made his players feel important and the rojiblanca fans extend their enjoyment. Right from the start, Girona showed that it was going to make Osasuna suffer, a lot, and, in the 6th minute, Juncà made it 1-0. Santi Bueno put him in flight with a pass measured from almost the center of the field and the left-handed winger defined perfectly in hand-to-hand with Juan Pérez. He had not scored since the 2014-15 season. The goal surprised an Osasuna as restless as it was uncomfortable. It was difficult for the rojillos to take the pulse of the duel and every ball that went to the back of the centrals carried danger. Maniating Borja García, Artero, Pol Lozano and Kebe was an ordeal for the visitors and, in 36 ‘, Oier played with fire. He knocked down Kebe inside the area, but the referee did not hesitate for a moment and considered that the contact had not been enough to signal the maximum penalty. The anger of the Girona fans was monumental, but they kept going. This seemed to give the rojillos some oxygen, although it was not until the last action of the first half that Juan Carlos had to get under the crossbar and shine to avoid Chimy Ávila’s goal.

After the break, Álex Baena (also Bernardo) appeared and Girona enjoyed the minutes in which they ran over Osasuna. In just a quarter of an hour there was time for Santi Bueno to be annulled for offside and Nahuel Bustos to show his worrying lack of goal. In minute 58, Baena gave him 2-0 and the Argentine striker despaired of the rojiblanca fans due to his apathetic and disastrous shot. Few minutes later, Michel chose to replace him and preferred to play without a pure ‘9’.

With 1-0 on the scoreboard and with 15 minutes remaining in the game, Osasuna went bare-chested and He finished with Chimy Ávila, Kike García and Budimir on the field of play. But he lacked successfully taking the ball to the rival area and the only thing that stood out was a shot from Budimir that Juan Carlos sent for a corner. Too much Girona for an Osasuna who will be able to focus, without distractions, on staying alive in the First Division.
