LaLiga will financially support 85 soup kitchens in 36 cities throughout Spain

MADRID, 23 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga launched several solidarity initiatives with the aim that the illusion for Christmas is present in all homes these holidays, thus, with the challenge ‘Hunger to zero’, it donated 106,000 euros to the Food Bank, supported 85 soup kitchens of 36 Spanish cities and will collaborate, for the third consecutive year, in the traditional

Messengers of Peace Christmas Eve dinner.

A few weeks ago, LaLiga, its Foundation and the clubs joined the Spanish Food Bank Federation (FESBAL) for another season with its ‘Hunger to Zero’ campaign. During days 14 and 15 of LaLiga Santander and days 17 and 18 of LaLiga Smartbank, LaLiga donated 1,000 euros for each goal scored, achieving a total of 106,000 euros that the management and Banco Santander allocated to the ‘Great Food Collection 2021’ .

In addition, as was done in the Great Food Collection of 2020, LaLiga made RetoSolidarioLaLiga.es available to its fans, the website through which they could make their donations directly to FESBAL.

Due to the pandemic, LaLiga, in collaboration with the municipalities, has wanted to support the soup kitchens of 36 Spanish cities, 6 more than last season, with the aim that no one is left without enjoying a special menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

With this initiative, LaLiga offers financial assistance to 85 soup kitchens throughout Spain that will reach more than 15,000 people, 13.5% more than last year on the same dates.

On the other hand, LaLiga, through its Foundation, will support for the third consecutive year the traditional Christmas Eve dinner of Messengers of Peace for people without resources, which, on this occasion, will take place in the Real Casino de Madrid and in the church of San Antón, simultaneously. As already happened in 2020, it will be distributed in a ‘Take Away’ format, to comply with the sanitary conditions imposed by COVID-19.

A total of 90 dinners will be delivered at the Real Casino de Madrid and 60 at the church of San Antón, all for people in vulnerable situations. Likewise, more than 40 volunteers will help in the tasks of distribution and registration of people at the entrance.

The director of the LaLiga Foundation, Olga de la Fuente, assured that for LaLiga and its Foundation it is “a pride to be able to collaborate one more year with Messengers of Peace in favor of people without resources on a day as special as Christmas Eve.”

For his part, the founder of the NGO Messengers of Peace, Father Ángel, insisted that they will try to “give company to those who need it most” on Christmas Eve. “Due to the social and health situation we are experiencing, we must be very prudent,” he concluded.
