Gema Hassen-Bey, García Caridad and Sofía Martín, appointed directors of the Madrid Sports Press Association

Paralympic medalist Gema Hassen-Bey and journalists Paco García Caridad and Sofía Martín have been appointed directors of the Madrid Sports Press Association this Wednesday.

Gema Hassen-Bey has a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. Apart from her sporting career (she achieved two bronze medals in the Paralympic Games in Barcelona and another in those in Atlanta in fencing, being the first fencer to get an Olympic medal for Spain in this sport), she has extensive experience as a journalist.

After starting at Servimedia, she has been, among other tasks, presenter and ideologist of the first ‘London Special of Paralympic Games’, which was broadcast by Teledeporte, and of the program ‘The world moves with you’ on Spanish Television. He has also been responsible for Internal Communication Hewlett Packard Spain and Portugal, responsible for the Diverscity Program and collaborator of Onda Cero. She is an expert in the National Council for Disability of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Equality. She was awarded the Medal of Sports Merit.

Paco García Caridad has a doctorate in Information Sciences from the same university. He has worked at Antena 3 Radio, at Antena 3 Televisión, at the Marca newspaper, where he held the positions of editor-in-chief, deputy director and deputy director, and at Radio Marca, where he was director. He has also been Director of Media at UD Las Palmas. He is currently a collaborator of El Chiringuito.

For her part, Sofía Martín has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University and a master’s degree in Communication and Advertising ESIC. She also has the title of Sports Director issued by the University of Castilla La Mancha and the RFEF. He worked in all the supports of the Marca newspaper and in the Marketing, Events and International Relations departments of the RFEF. She is the Marketing Manager of El Español.

Apart from these appointments, the APDM board of directors agreed to launch a program to “promote, through sports, the integration of journalists with disabilities in the workplace and in society.” The APDM board of directors is chaired by José Damián González. Carmen Colino and Gaspar Díez are vice-presidents.
