MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Saturday, Martín de la Puente, from Vigo, won the 31st edition of the MAPFRE Spanish Championship for men in chair tennis, held at the Vall d’Hebron Municipal Tennis Center in Barcelona, by beating Madrid (6-3, 6-0) Daniel Caverzaschi.
The Spanish number one, and ninth in the world, regained the throne to raise the national title for the fifth time (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2021). The Galician beat local Quico Tur (6-1 6-3) in the semifinals, while Caverzaschi had beaten Murcian Enrique Siscar (6-4, 6-0).
The Madrilenian, who won the doubles title by forming a couple precisely with Siscar, yielded in the individual final against a very plugged De la Puente. Dominic Bukala took the victory in the consolation table, which has recovered this year, beating Francesc Prat in the final 6-3, 7-5.
