City, Liverpool and Chelsea continue their fight with the Premier pending the coronavirus

MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Day 18 of the Premier will be played half because of the coronavirus pandemic, which squeezes English football with five games suspended just this weekend, coincidentally released the three teams that fight at the top, with a leading Manchester City that visit to Newcastle.

Pep Guardiola’s men, pending an inconclusive test, have 41 points to 40 from Liverpool and 37 from Chelsea. It’s seven straight wins for City, the latest a crushing 7-0 at Leeds on weekdays, and a declining Newcastle doesn’t seem like much of a threat.

The ‘red’ team for its part is the only one that follows the rhythm of the leader and on Sunday they will visit a Tottenham that has been hit by COVID. The virus has already postponed 9 games in recent days and, in fact, this Monday Premier and clubs will meet to find calendar solutions while some ask for a total stoppage.

Half of this weekend’s games will not be played due to multiple positives on different teams. On Sunday it will also be the turn of Chelsea, who has been failing in recent days – two victories in five games – after being the leader. With 37 points, the London team visits Wolves.

Arsenal, who attacked fourth place in the derby this week against West Ham, will defend their position in the ‘Champions’ zone against a Leeds touched in their pride and a debt to their fans.
