Juanma García: From debut to triumph in the Second Division

“The short ones” are putting it together in Burgos this season. Juanma and Valcarce, Valcarce and Juanma form the fashion duo this campaign. Between the two they have scored eleven goals and continue to put the rival rearguard in check. The last one was achieved by Juanma this past Saturday at El Plantío against Fuenlabrada, with great skill he got away from the two central Madrid team and beat Altube with mastery. He celebrates each goal by forming an “A” with the fingers of his hand to dedicate the success to his son Aitor.

2021 will be a year that the Sevillian will hardly forget. In January, there was insistent talk of Badajoz’s interest in having their services in the winter market. Finally, Juanma chose to stay in Burgos and he was right. First came the promotion phase, then the victory against Athletic B, which helped them move on to the Second Division. In Almendralejo, at the end of the meeting that meant the promotion, he asked his partner, Elvira Tinoco, for the hand, which already looked pregnant with its first offspring. Later came his debut in the new category. Many doubted if the small forward, 167 centimeters tall, was going to be able to adapt to the new challenges, but Juanma has surprised everyone with his nose, his mischief and the desire to achieve triumphs with his team.

In Pablo Valcarce he has found a perfect complement. Between them they drive the opposing defenses crazy to the delight of Julián Calero, who has found the solution to the offensive deficiency that his team showed in the first days.

Not everything has been a bed of roses in this frenzied season and a half as he plays infiltrated and enduring pubic problems that will force him to stop a few weeks before the end of the year. But Juanma can handle everything and has become the idol of El Plantío. Some say that since Juanito has not seen such a skilled player in the black and white squads.

After passing through Betis, Badajoz and Marbella, Juanma has found in Burgos the stability he was looking for. He had never played in the second division, but he has come to stay.
