This is how the euro notes prepared by the ECB for 2024 will be changed

After two decades coexisting with the euro, the European Central Bank (ECB) has decided in recent months to proceed with a review of your tickets, in order to achieve a new, more modernized image. A change that is expected to be ready by 2024, when the new instruments enter circulation and for what will be counted on the ideas of all citizens of the Old Continent.

Any European who wants to make a decision on the new euro banknotes will be able to do so in the coming months. This was announced by the President of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, announcing the creation of a working group where citizen opinion will be taken into account.

It will be from this first group that the interests and criteria of anyone who shows their attention will be collected and, from then on, present to the Governing Council of the ECB a theme bank on which to inspire the new banknotes. Today, the system is inspired by “times and styles“with a representation on bridges, doors and windows.

A scientist to represent Spain

In the case of Spain, the representative who will lead the issues and will be the voice of the citizens is Nuria Oliver, director and co-founder of the Ellis Alicante Foundation. A scientist by profession, this institution addresses fundamental challenges in Artificial intelligence focused on people in a job that has been recognized by different international competitions.

Once the theme on which the new banknotes will be inspired is designated, a design contest of these, after which citizen opinion will be taken into account again to take note of the place of the new design. However, it will finally be the government council whoever makes the final decision, for which it is expected to arrive in three years.

Some new bills that by 2024 they will be in print and in circulation, with the aim that cash payments continue to gain strength from a modern look. And is that despite the rise of telematic money, the ECB itself is carrying out the launch of the digital euro, the institution wants the banknote to continue to be “a tangible and visible symbol of the European Union, particularly in times of crisis”, such and as Lagarde has reviewed.
