MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s team beat France (64-61) at the start of the wheelchair basketball European tournament that takes place in Madrid, at the Francisco Fernández Ochoa pavilion.

‘Pincho’ Ortega, with 14 points, and Asier García, 13 points and nine assists, were the most outstanding in the host. Abraham Carrión led his first official game at the helm of the national team and had the best possible sensations.

France suffered a lot from the Spanish defense in the beginning, owner of the rebound Spain. The Gauls reacted and forced forced shots but after the break, a remarkable version of Carrión’s team returned. A 9-0 run, led by Jordi Ruiz, put Spain on the road to victory.

However, the last quarter returned to press a very demanding premiere that Spain overcame thanks to the choral play left by Asier García, ‘Pincho’ Ortega, Dani Stix, Oscar Onrubia and Pablo Zarzuela.
