The pandemic and the conservative measures that China has applied have prevented Chen Yansheng from being able to return to Barcelona after the start of COVID-19. To alleviate this lack of contact, the club has inaugurated this Wednesday a virtual conference between the main social agents and the president, a telematic conference in which the supporters in this case have been able to listen to the owner of Rastar Group and ask him about the club project and the future of the blue and white entity.
In a private conversation, the counselor and translator Mao Ye has subsequently been in charge of summarizing the meeting. “It is the first virtual meeting. The idea was born the previous year. We had been a year without the presence of the president, and from the social area we believed that it was a good way”commented the counselor, the president’s right-hand man.
Mao highlighted two things fans asked Chen about: the sports betting and the club sale. On the first aspect, Mao commented that the president said that “yes, I always have”. While in the second aspect he denied that the club was for sale but made it clear that Espanyol is right now a very attractive club. “In these six years the club has been built. It is impossible to avoid rumors, there is no denying that Espanyol is an attractive club for investors and that is a good indicator that we are doing things well”Mao stressed from the RCDE Stadium.

Along with Araceli Pérez, president of the Federació Catalana de Penyes de l’Espanyol, other presidents have attended: Jordi Bou, of the Penya de Roda de Ter; Jaume Lladó, from the Penya d’Argentona; Oscar Pitarch, from the Peña d’Olost; Isaura Valle, from the Penya Torredembarra; Josep Badia, of the Penya Pericos Berguedà; Pere Joan Olivella, from the Penya Pericos Sant Sadurní; Rafa Aragón, from the Sant Joan Despí supporters club; Josep M. Serrat, of the Periquitos Riudecanyes rock; Silvia de la Gandara, of Runners Espanyol and member of the FCPE; Santi Prat, from the Penya de Breda and member of the FCPE; Salvador Fosas, of the Penya de Sabadell and vice-president of the FCPE; and Anton Roig, of the Penya de Reus and vice-president of the FCPE.
With this initiative, the president “touched the fans again”. In the president’s speech, the role of the people was again valued, especially last year in the Second Division and without the possibility of going to the stadium. “They gave us a lot of strength”. The supporters themselves also thanked the president for the economic effort to turn Espanyol into a healthy entity with heritage.
