The leader of ERC, Oriol Junqueras, has assured that the support of his party to the General State Budgets (PGE) is conditioned to the advances that occur in the dialogue table agreed with the PSOE. He has done so in an interview from prison where he is serving a 13-year sentence for sedition and embezzlement of public funds.
“The support for the Budget is conditioned to the advances in the dialogue table. We are going step by step,” he assured The country the former vice president of the Generalitat.
Junqueras has admitted that ERC allowed the investiture of Pedro Sánchez because the PP and Vox alternative “was much worse” and that his decision to abstain would have been made “by any European Democrat.”
In this regard, he stressed that at this time the governance of Spain “is quite strategic for ERC” and that if PSOE and his party do “things right, the extreme right will have little space.”
The 'procés' lesson: “do it again”
The leader of ERC has insisted that the Supreme Court “is not right at all” and that the lesson he draws from 'procés' is that it was done “to do it again.” However, he acknowledged that “any complex process must necessarily be multilateral.”
“From the strictest democratic principles, what we did in the fall of 2017 was well done,” said Junqueras, who has criticized that Spain cannot be a “normal country if beatings are given to those who are going to vote, it gets into prison to innocents, governments are dismissed and parliaments are closed for putting the polls. “
