Borussia, with everything for Haaland

Borussia Dortmund is not resigned and will go with everything to try to retain Haaland in Germany, at least one more season. This is what Christian Falk, Head of Football for the Teutonic newspaper 'Bild', has said, explaining that the BVB will make a significant financial effort to convince Haaland and his agent, Mino Raiola, that he must remain in Dortmund at least until 2023. To do so This will offer a considerable salary increase: practically double, going from 8 to 15 million net per season.

It is not the only aspect that Dortmund manages: it is also trying to convince Haaland through its main sports sponsorship, which at the moment is with Nike, but that ends this year, so from January 1, 2022, it will be able to sign with a new brand and there Puma, the one that dresses the BVB, also wants to support the operation.

Dortmund are not particularly optimistic about the option of keeping Haaland in the team for one more year, since in fact this past summer they already had to deal with the Norwegian's wishes to leave for new destinations. Haaland came to BVB from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 in exchange for just € 20 million (apart from the commissions for Raiola and for the player's father), an affordable price, although with conditions: there is a verbal agreement (not signed, nothing black on white) to facilitate the departure from June 2022; A symbolic price of 75 million euros was revealed, but the performance of the ram in the last year and a half has made that estimate very obsolete.

Raiola already asked Dortmund about the option of leaving this past summer, and the response of the then Borusser sports director, Michael Zorc, was blunt: Dortmund did not sell. The team was very close to being left out of the Champions League positions, which would have strengthened Raiola's requests, but finally achieved the coveted fourth place and Haaland was left without an excuse, forced to form one more yellow and black course. But just one more course, he is convinced of leaving in 2022 towards a club with full options to compete with everything and there Real Madrid appears in a prominent position in the pool.

Raiola and Madrid, tension and interest

In Madrid the plan is to try to sign both Mbappé and Haaland next summer, taking advantage of the fact that the Frenchman will arrive for free (although with a transfer bonus) and that he has a salary margin to fit both chips without problems (for this season, his limit is 739 million; that of Barcelona, another Haaland suitor, just 97). The relationship with Raiola is tense and they do not like the huge commissions required to close operations, but the Italian agent wants a fluid relationship with Madrid and that can tip the balance.

The salary would not be a problem and the 15 million that Dortmund plans to offer represent a lower amount than Madrid he could probably arrive next summer to sign Haaland. But the BVB also relies on the sentimental factor: Haaland is the idol of the Signal Iduna Park fans and in Dortmund he has found a perfect ecosystem to boost his growth, with 68 goals and 19 assists in 67 yellow and black games.
