Serge Aurier is one step away from being a new Villarreal player

Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast, 1992) is one step away from Villarreal. The Submarine hopes to finalize the incorporation of the right back in the next few hours. Aurier is free after leaving Tottenham, where he's been for the last four seasons. The African player, with a French passport, has been to La Cerámica, as announced by Radio Monte Carlo and confirmed by AS.

Aurier, 28, coincided with Unai Emery at PSG, in the 2016-17 season. The defender, who can also play central, also played for Lens, Toulouse and Tottenham. Aurier is international with Ivory Coast and stands out for its physical power.

The next signing of Villarreal, except for surprise, can bring competition to the right back. Emery has Foyth, Mario Gaspar and Peña in that demarcation. But Foyth could help in the defense axis and free Pau and Albiol. In addition, the yellow coach sees Peña as an interior. Emery himself, at a press conference, confirmed the interest.
