Shevchenko: “Kane took advantage of all his chances and this makes the difference”

Rome, Jul 3 (EFE) .- Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine coach, praised England's Harry Kane on Saturday, who scored a double in England's 4-0 victory against the Ukrainian team in the Eurocup quarterfinals, and he stressed that “he took advantage of all his opportunities.”

“Kane played a great game, he had a punch. He scored on all his occasions, this makes the difference at these levels,” Shevchenko said at the post-match press conference at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

“England took advantage of our mistakes, they controlled the game. Sometimes they made some mistakes, but we could not take advantage of them. For me, England can reach the final,” he continued.

Despite the elimination, Shevchenko expressed pride in his players and their efforts.

“I am happy for the performance, I want to thank my players for the way they played football tonight,” he said.

“It must be recognized that the game was played in the episodes, we stayed true to our ideas, but we did not play well in set pieces,” he added.

He was not worried about his future and reported that the Ukrainian Federation “will analyze the results of this European Championship” when he returns to Kiev. EFE
