After several weeks of waiting after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, Everton are one step away from confirming Rafa Benítez as their new manager.
According to Sky Sports, the Spanish coach will be appointed next week after sorting out key aspects of his contract with the “toffees”.
The 61-year-old will become Everton's fifth manager in five years and will replace Carlo Ancelotti, who left Goodison Park to return to Real Madrid earlier this month.
Benítez's arrival will come 11 years after leaving Anfield, where he spent six years as Liverpool manager, winning the Champions League and the FA Cup.
