For a central defender, having Koundé and Diego Carlos in front of them offers very few opportunities to be able to demonstrate their game. Karim Rekik arrived at Seville last summer with the idea of gaining minutes in a demanding league like the Spanish one and in a club with the highest aspirations like the Andalusian, but the truth is that the French and the Brazilian, fixed headlines in the scheme of Lopetegui and considered one of the best center-back couples in Europe, they have left him few options to play. In only 11 league games he has participated with Sevilla Rekik, who did have more presence in the Copa del Rey, a tournament in which he also played quite a lot as a left back.
Although the future of Koundé may be outside of Sevilla, Lopetegui has not shown signs of giving Rekik a great responsibility in the next season, so the player is back on the market, like Sergi Gómez, who can also leave the club.
In this sense, the club from which the Dutchman arrived, Hertha Berlin, wishes to have Rekik again and has made a query to Sevilla about their willingness to let him out. The German team would welcome a transfer, although Sevilla prefers that the operation be carried out by transfer despite having to lose some of the investment, which in their case was not much, about 4 million euros.
