17 Spaniards gather in Sant Cugat to prepare for the Table Paratennis World Championships

17 Spanish athletes gather this week at the Sant Cugat High Performance Center (Barcelona) to prepare for the Table Paratennis World Championship to be held from November 6 to 12 at the Granada Sports Palace.

As reported on Tuesday by the Royal Spanish Table Tennis Federation (RFETM), this concentration is scheduled within the calendar of the Spanish team in its preparation for the event and has all the athletes classified for this event and the help of international athletes such as the Czech Colin Judge and the Spaniards Roberto Eder Rodríguez, Daniel Rodríguez, Olaia Martínez and Miguel Ángel Toledo.

“This concentration is very important for us, since it allows us to evaluate all athletes two months ahead of the most outstanding competition. And it is also an important week for them to build a team and raise motivation levels even more,” he says.

Spain has 14 players qualified for this historic event, which will stand out for being the first edition with female representation in a World Championship. On a sporting level, Álvaro Valera will arrive as world number one in his class (6), a position he held for the first time 22 years ago, and has held for 10 years without interruption. Along with him, the veteran from Granada José Manuel Ruiz and the Catalan Jordi Morales, who will seek to revalidate the title of world champion of Class 7, conquered in 2018.
