Tissot renews its collaboration as official MotoGP timekeeper

This new contract comes on the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the watchmaker and the championship organizer

MADRID, 16 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Tissot and Dorna Sports have announced this Tuesday the renewal of their contract, by which the Swiss watchmaker will continue to be the official timekeeper of the MotoGP World Championship for the next few years, they reported in a statement.

This agreement serves to extend a long-lasting collaboration and increase the commercial presence in MotoGP. Founded in 1853, Tissot became the Official Timekeeper of MotoGP in 2001, marking the 20th anniversary of this collaboration this season.

Outside the circuit, the collaboration between Tissot and MotoGP is also news, as the watch brand has been inspired by the world of the Motorcycle World Championship to design watch collections that embody a “common commitment to excellence, accuracy and precision”.

At each Grand Prix, the winner of the pole in each category receives an exclusive watch and a Tissot certificate. In addition, at the end of each season the ‘Pole of Poles’ award is given to the riders with the most poles in each category.

Tissot also enjoys an emblematic presence in privileged spaces of the circuits throughout the calendar and, recently, it has added a new role as ‘title sponsor’ of several Grand Prix in the last two seasons.

The CEO of Dorna Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta, was grateful for this agreement. “We are pleased to celebrate two decades with Tissot with another important announcement extending this collaboration. With Tissot as Official Timekeeper, we know our sport will be in good hands. We are looking forward to discovering the new MotoGP-inspired watch collections. May Tissot become Title sponsor of a Grand Prix each season is also excellent news, thus ensuring that the Tissot name remains one of the most recognized in the paddock during this new era together, “he commented.

For his part, Sylvain Dolla, CEO of Tissot, said that the technological universe of motorcycling perfectly reflects the character of Tissot. “This sport shares our passion for products, continuous development and a drive to push boundaries.

It serves as a source of inspiration to create unique watches with characteristics that represent the details of motorcycles, as we can see in our Tissot T-Race MotoGP collection. It is an honor to continue collaborating with Dorna and inspiring each other to offer the best, both in timing and in products, for athletes and fans, “he said.
