Thiem and Zverev test negative for COVID-19 after playing on the Adria Tour with Dimitrov and Djokovic

The world of tennis is still in shock after knowing this Sunday the positive for coronavirus of the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who in recent weeks has played matches against other great rackets on the Adria Tour organized by Novak Djokovic in various countries in the Balkans.

One of the players that coincided with Dimitrov in the first stage of the Adria Tour in Belgrade was the Austrian Dominic Thiem, number 3 in the world, who also took the victory in the Serbian event.

However Thiem changed this weekend the Adria Tour for another tournament in which he is competing before the official return of the circuit, the Ultimate Tennis Showdown that Patrick Mouratoglou is organizing, coach of Serena Williams, at his Nice academy.

Shortly after arriving at the Mouratogluo Academy last Friday, Thiem underwent the COVID-19 tests to confirm whether or not he could play during the tournament. The Austrian he tested negative and was able to play his first matches in the tournament this weekend, falling 3-1 to Richard Gasquet on Saturday and beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-1 in the last game of the day on Sunday.

Mouratoglou himself wanted to share on his social networks the photo that uploaded the official account of the Thiem tournament, undergoing the coronavirus test along with the comment. “Tall the players have been tested for the coronavirus upon arrival at the Mouratoglou Academy before participating in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown “, The technician wrote shortly after the positive for Dimitrov's coronavirus was known on the Adria Tour.

Zverev also tests negative

The German tennis player Alexander Zverev has given negative results in the coronavirus test to which he was subjected after the news of the infection of several participants in the Adria Tour, the exhibition tournament promoted by Novak Djokovic. “I just received the news that my team and I we tested negative for covid-19 “, The German reported, adding that it will be tested regularly as a preventive measure.

Zverev, 23, said he will follow doctors' quarantine advice: “I apologize to everyone I have potentially put at risk for playing this tour.” The Adriatic tour had already been criticized before these cases of coronavirus infection occurred.
