MADRID, 3 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish golfer Alejandro de Miguel has won the title of world golf champion for the totally blind, in the championship held in Cape Town (South Africa).

The man from Madrid is the first Spaniard to win this trophy, after two days of play that were very difficult due to the wind. De Miguel started the last day with six shots behind, but he knew how to hold on to the field and, together with his guide, Javier Parrilla, ended up lifting the trophy.

De Miguel, who was runner-up in the world in 2018, was the first blind Spaniard to win the British Open (2022) and the first to play in the Ryder Cup.

In the same tournament, the other Spanish participant, Marc Oller, finished in fifth position in the B2 category, corresponding to golfers with visual disabilities.
