The British signed from 1-E will be extra-EU

In view of the agreement to exit the United Kingdom from the European Union, LaLiga, RFEF and AFE have reached an agreement to regularize the situation of British players in our football. The players registered in the 2020-2021 season will not occupy an extra-community position, but those who are from January 1, 2021 will. This is the full note that Iusport has released:

1. Footballers with UK nationality that are registered as of January 1, 2021 will be considered for registration purposes, maximum allowed quotas and possibility of alignment, as “non-EU”.

2. On a temporary basis, the condition of “community” with which they began the 2020-2021 season to all those footballers with nationality of the United Kingdom who, as of December 31, 2020, have signed a contract and issued a valid license with a club assigned to professional categories, for the purposes of the maximum number of registrations allowed and the possibility of alignment in matches of these categories, until the end of the 2020-2021 Season. This transience will also be applicable to footballers registered in dependent teams or in teams of affiliated clubs of the previous ones.

3. Finally, it is agreed Raise the agreement reached between the three institutions to the Higher Sports Council in order for this body to show its compliance with the adjustment to current and applicable national legislation. and, so that, where appropriate, it can extend its effects until the current expiration date of the contracts of the affected players, but without the possibility of extension due to extensions or extensions of these.

This agreement allows Kieran trippier (Atlético de Madrid) and Gareth Bale (with a contract at Real Madrid until 2022 and on loan to Tottenham) continue to occupy a community position. It would not be the case if both players extend their contracts beyond the current date on which they end.
