Steve Clarke renews as Scottish coach until 2024

The Scottish Football Federation announced on Tuesday the renewal of Steve Clarke as coach of its national team to lead the team until the next Euro 2024. The deal comes after Scotland's historic qualification for the 2020 continental championship and ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers, which will pit the Scots against Denmark, Moldova and Austria.

Clarke will have a new technical team, after his assistant coach, Steven Reid, and his goalkeeping coach, Steview Woods, have decided to resign their positions due to “family commitments.”

“I am proud to have extended my term as Scotland's first manager. I'm looking forward to working with my team and with the players to try to improve the team, “said Clarke.

Participation in the last European Championship has given the Scottish team “greater determination” to re-qualify for a top-tier championship “as soon as possible”.

The coach recalled that he told his players in the locker room: “We must all learn lessons from having played the Euro and come back stronger” in the future. EFE
