State of alarm in Lugo

CD Lugo has returned under its jurisdiction, or at least for those of the last two seasons. After a bad start to the campaign which was amended with the arrival of Nafti, the last games with him on the bench and those played after the return of Luis César they have left the albivermello team on the verge of relegation when there are only nine rounds left to play. What at first seemed like it was finally going to be a placid season (Nafti left the team with six cushion points over the well) has become, once again, a decisive stretch in which the albivermellos will have to fight tooth and nail to the end for permanence.

And it is that Lugo's streak is, with the numbers in hand, terrifying. Just one match won in the entire second round makes it the worst team so far in 2021. With Luis César, who came as a revulsive to get the team out of the bad streak that they chained in the last Nafti games, the Anxo Carro team has not yet won after six games and has three points out of 18 possible, which has made him lose practically all the cushion that he maintained with the descent to which he could fall on this day, in which he faces the almighty Mallorca. Nothing is discarded in the albivermella house, not even an eventual new coach change in what would become the fourth change of the season for the bench.

Because the calendar ahead of Lugo is not reassuring either. In the remaining nine days he will have to face four teams that will be playing, getting into the playoff or direct promotion like Mallorca, Ponferradina, Sporting and Rayo Vallecano, but also four others who will be direct rivals for permanence like Alcorcón, Zaragoza, Albacete and Cartagena. Only the Mirandés can reach his appointment with the albivermellos without a clear objective. An end to the season in which Lugo will have little margin for error and will have to compete until the last minute of the last game.
