Real Madrid subdues BAXI Manresa and catches up with the leader

MADRID, 11 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid has caught up with Lenovo Tenerife at the top of the Endesa League after beating BAXI Manresa (103-89) this Sunday, with a sensational game by French guard Fabien Causeur, on an eleventh day of competition in which the Valencia Basket relied on a spectacular third quarter to defeat Bàsquet Girona (104-69).

At the WiZink Center, Chus Mateo’s men defended their undefeated condition at home to achieve their sixth consecutive victory in the league championship (9-2), which allows them to match the 18 points they maintain at the top -despite their defeat on Saturday against Joventut Badalona- to the canaries, with whom they will play for the lead next week.

The white team dominated from start to finish against the Catalans, bottom teams, with Vincent Poirier (15) and Dzanan Musa (19), with a PIR of 26 each, leading the team in the first half, and only took their foot off the accelerator in the final leg.

Caseur was his team’s leading scorer with 20 points after a fantastic third quarter -with four consecutive three-pointers and 14 points in just one minute-, and neutralized the great encounter of Argentine guard Juampi Vaulet, with a ‘double-double’ of 27 points and 10 rebounds for a PIR of 32.

For their part, Valencia Basket interrupted a series of three straight losses by beating Bàsquet Girona with one of their best quarters in recent times. The 34-9 run in the third set was worth Álex Mumbrú’s team to defeat Aíto García Reneses’ team, who was not enough for the 20 goals from American forward Kameron Taylor.
