MADRID, 27 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
RCD Mallorca and Elche CF have announced an agreement on Tuesday for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Omar Mascarell from the Elche team to the Vermilion club, which will be effective as of July 1 and will run until June 30, 2026 .
Mascarell, 30, played a total of 32 LaLiga Santander games with Elche in the 2021/22 campaign and in this last year 2022/23 he has played 28 games. The man from Tenerife also has experience in the German Bundesliga, having played for Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke 04.
“The truth is that I really wanted to get here. Arriving on an island for me is always special. It is a very exciting project. I want to get off on the right foot and above all perform at a good level to help and do my bit “, Mascarell himself declared to the official Mallorca media.
“I really want to start with the team, to meet my teammates, the coach and the coaching staff. And row, row in the same direction that everyone wants to row so that it is an exciting year, that it is good, and that we achieve great things”, has added the brand new signing vermillion.
Mascarell has also highlighted that “last season was spectacular”. “I think that RCD Mallorca took a step forward and the whole world saw it. I think that the project is being very good, not only at a football level, but in everything that encompasses the club”, he has argued in this regard.
The man from Tenerife already knows some of his new teammates, as he shared a dressing room with Matija Nastasic for three years at Schalke. “He was one of the players I got along with the best there. So I have a very good relationship with him. I really want to see him again”, Mascarell pointed out.
In this sense, through a press note, Elche has thanked Mascarell “for his work, dedication and commitment during his time as a Green Franjiverde” and has wished him “luck in his personal and professional career”.
