Pilar Alegría meets with Stefano Domenicali

According to the ministry, the head of Sports has conveyed to Domenicali “her satisfaction that Spain is going to have a new Grand Prix on the Formula 1 calendar.” Furthermore, he has conveyed the Government's interest “in working towards the attendance of two Formula 1 Grand Prix” in the country, in Madrid and in Montmeló, “as has already happened in previous years in Spain and in other countries.” like Italy, Germany and the United States.

This Tuesday, Formula 1 confirmed at IFEMA that Madrid will organize the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 to 2035, so the World Championship will return to the Spanish capital more than 40 years later.

The preliminary draft of the circuit concept, pending homologation by the FIA, will have a length of 5.474 kilometers, 20 curves and a qualifying lap of 1 minute and 32 seconds. The route would use the IFEMA Madrid roads, both from the current site and the future ones on the Valdebebas plot, in addition to just 1.5 kilometers of public roads.
