Miller prevails, Márquez finishes fourth and Quartararo extracts oil

The ‘zeros’ of Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaró pave the way to the title for the French

Ogura wins in Moto2 but Augusto Fernández holds on

Guevara, more leader after winning in Moto3

MADRID, 25 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Australian rider Jack Miller (Ducati) claimed victory in the Japanese Grand Prix MotoGP race, in which the Spaniard Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) was fourth, while the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) secured his leadership by the ‘zeros’ of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia).

Motegi, sixteenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, has brought in his return to the championship after two years of absence a double blow of effect in the fight for the world title. The leader of the queen category, Quartararo, could only be eighth, but the misfortune of his main pursuers has allowed him to strengthen himself at the head.

The second in the championship, the Italian ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, crashed when trying to overtake the Nice rider on the last lap, while electronic problems forced Aleix Espargaró to change bikes and start from the pitlane to finish the race sixteenth, out of the points. With this, they remain 18 and 25 points behind ‘El Diablo’, respectively.

For his part, Miller claimed victory ahead of South African Brad Binder (KTM) and Spaniard Jorge Martín (Ducati), although all eyes were on Marc Márquez, who despite not being able to defend his position as ‘poleman’ managed add his first points after his return to the World Cup after his fourth humerus operation.

In addition, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) finished seventh, while Pol Espargaró (Repsol Honda) finished twelfth, just ahead of Alex Márquez (Honda), and Raúl Fernández (KTM) was eighteenth. Alex Rins (Suzuki) was unable to finish due to mechanical problems.

OGURA WINS AND PUTS PRESSURE ON AUGUSTO FERNÁNDEZ

In Moto2, Ai Ogura (Kalex) became the first Japanese to win in his country since Hiroshi Aoyama did it in 250cc in 2006, leading a podium completed by the Spaniards Augusto Fernández (Kalex), still leader of the championship, and Alonso Lopez (Boscoscuro).

With this victory, the Japanese (232) puts pressure on the Balearic Islands (234), who lead him by only two points with four races to go. The third in the championship, Arón Canet (Kalex), distanced himself from the fight after crashing at turn 9 when he was leading the event, just after Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro) also crashed in the middle of the fight for the lead.

Jeremy Alcoba (Kalex) and Jorge Navarro (Kalex) didn’t finish either, while Manu González (Kalex) didn’t even start. Among the rest of the Spaniards, Pedro Acosta (Kalex), winner in Alcañiz, was seventh, Albert Arenas (Kalex) eighth and Marcos Ramírez (MV Augusta), twentieth.

GUEVARA, MORE LEADER OF MOTO3

In the Moto3 category, Izan Guevara (GasGas) is even more of a leader after winning Motegi ahead of the Italian Dennis Foggia (Honda) and the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) and his main rival for the championship, his teammate Sergio García Dols (GasGas), was fourth.

After reigning in Aragón, the Mallorcan, who came back from ninth position and recovered from a fall in the ‘warm up’, tied his fifth victory of the season to add 254 points, 45 more than Burriana and 63 more than Foggia.

Meanwhile, David Muñoz (KTM) finished fifth, Xavi Artigas (CFMoto) was eleventh, Iván Ortolá (KTM) thirteenth, Adrián Fernández (KTM) eighteenth and Ana Carrasco (KTM), nineteenth. Jaume Masià (KTM) crashed in the final laps when he was fighting for the podium, and Carlos Tatay (CFMoto) and Dani Holgado (KTM) also failed to finish.
