MADRID, 3 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Celta de Vigo has announced this Friday the injury of the Argentine goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín, who will miss the remainder of the season after a tear in the left Achilles tendon produced during the training session and for which he has already undergone surgery.
“The imaging, magnetic resonance and ultrasound tests carried out by the RC Celta medical services on goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín confirmed the total rupture of the goalkeeper’s left Achilles tendon, who underwent surgery early this afternoon by the head of the the club’s medical services, Juan José García Cota, at the Fremap Hospital in Vigo,” the club said in a statement.
The Argentine goalkeeper, indisputable for Carvalhal, is the only player in the entire squad who has played every minute in LaLiga. “We think it could be a very serious Achilles tendon injury, obviously he will not be there for tomorrow’s game and he will probably undergo surgery,” his coach said at a press conference.
“The operation was carried out without complications, although Marchesín will be out for a long period, around 8 months. RC Celta wants to send the sky-blue goalkeeper a warm message of encouragement and wish him a complete recovery,” added Celta.
An injury that leaves Iván Villar, who this season has only played two games in the first rounds of the Copa del Rey against CD Algar and Gernika, as the only goalkeeper at the Portuguese coach’s disposal.
