Marc Márquez: “It’s just a pole position, but it’s important to achieve small things”

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) was happy to have returned to pole position three years later at the Japanese Grand Prix, a “small achievement” after his tough months of injuries and recoveries, although he is aware that if this Sunday the MotoGP race is held in the dry and they will return to their “reality”.

“Today is an amazing day, celebrate and enjoy it! I knew I could be fast in these conditions and I had to make the most of it. It’s good to be back on pole, to be on the front row at the home circuit of Honda, they deserve it because they are working very hard. Of course it is only a pole position and it is in the wet, but coming from where we come from, it is very important to achieve these small achievements, “he said in statements provided by his team.

In spite of everything, the man from Cervera is realistic and knows that not everything will be so idyllic if there are no rainy conditions in the race. “If tomorrow is dry, we will return to our reality, but no matter what happens, I am sure that I will enjoy the first few laps. I want to thank HRC and the Repsol Honda Team for continuing to support me and believe in me, we are going to get there”, Indian.

For his part, his teammate Pol Espargaró explained that he felt “good in the morning” before suffering a fall. “It can happen in the wet, because the conditions always change and the line is very small. The distance between a good lap and a crash is very small when it rains, but even so I felt that I could be fast in qualifying,” he said.

“In the afternoon the conditions have changed and I didn’t have the same sensations as before on the bike, I even stopped to change the rear tire to see if that was the problem, but nothing has changed. It’s a shame because we had a lot of potential Let’s see what happens on Sunday. Congratulations to Marc and to the whole team, they have done something impressive today”, concluded the man from Granollers.
