Leonormania sweeps television: the Princess of Asturias boosts TVE’s audience and breaks three records in one month

Leonor Effect or Leonormania. It doesn’t matter what her name is, but the truth is that there is a furor for the Princess of Asturias that is also reflected on television. The heiress, who today swears in the Constitution when she turns 18, has drive and has demonstrated it throughout this October season full of institutional events. In other words, her presence in front of the cameras is a real boon, she boosts the audiences and TVE has been the great beneficiary.

Saturday, October 7. The public channel broadcast the Princess’s flag oath from the General Academy of Zaragoza and it swept the world. The event stood out with an outstanding 22.3% and 845,000 viewers in its broadcast on La 1 (19% share) and Canal 24 Horas (3.3%). It was one of the best data in recent times from the public chain on a Saturday morning.

This event, key in Doña Leonor’s military training, also promoted the program Open Hearing (13.9%) that was broadcast next and Telediario 1, which reached a 14.3% share and took the golden minute of the network. These data allowed La 1 to lead on Saturday, ahead of the private ones.

October 12 °. Just a few days later, Princess Leonor once again made a public appearance in a military uniform on the occasion of the National Day parade and, once again, she blew out the audiometers. This year the event reached a 48.4% share and 2,526,000 average viewers in its simultaneous broadcast on La 1 and Canal 24 Horas (42.9% only on the main channel).

The retransmission on the public channel exceeded last year’s figure by almost three points (45.7% in simultaneous broadcast) and by four points that of two years ago (44%). In fact, in share it was the best result of the National Day parade in 16 years, since 2007 (48.7%).

Friday, October 20. The 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony recorded just a few days ago its best audience figure since 2010. With an average of 1,265,000 viewers and a screen share of 15.7%, on La 1 and Canal 24 Horas , the awards led their broadcast slot.

The most watched minute of the Princess of Asturias occurred at the end of the ceremony, at 8:01 p.m., with 1,542,000 viewers and a share of 17.6%. La 1 won the afternoon slot with 12.7%, ahead of the Sonsoles Ónega program (10.6%) and TardeAR (9% without Ana Rosa Quintana).
