Hermetic Real Madrid

Madrid is about to match the best numbers in defense of its more than 90 league history. With only 23 goals conceded, he is not going to surpass them by just five thousandths on average, a trifle after 38 league games. But tying that record depends on Courtois or Areola leaving the goal to zero in Butarque, something that the Belgian and the French have achieved 18 times in this championship.

The good work of the two goalkeepers and all the white defense has been brilliant. If Madrid does not fit in Butarque, it will end the League with 23 goals against in 38 days, which would mean an average of 0.6053 goals per game. Technical tie with the 18 goals that Miguel Muñoz's Madrid conceded in 30 games in the 64-65, at a rate of 0.6 goals per game. Only in one more season of the 89 history of the League did Madrid leave his goal in that tenth of an average goal. In the third of the five La Quinta del Buitre leagues (87-88), Buyo and company only conceded 26 goals in 38 games, three more than they are now.

Madrid have managed to average less than one goal per game in 33 league seasons. In absolute terms, this would be Madrid's sixth best historical defense, although never on a calendar with so many games. In the 1931-32 and 32-33 seasons the league ended with 15 and 17 goals against respectively, but at that time the League had ten teams and the calendar extended over just 18 days.
